<tagline>The Squamish Conditions page is a frequently updated section which contains the weather conditions as our staff see them out the window. We all know about the inconsistencies between weather reports and actual conditions so now you can simply check here to find the latest conditions and read back for the recent weather history!
(NB: you may need to refresh the page to see the most recent updates and if no updates have been made in a few days then chances are good that there has been no major change in the weather)

We've had a surprisingly long run of pretty stable weather, and there really hasn't been much to say so we haven't bothered saying anything. But things have got a bit mixed around so there's actually something to say again. Yesterday was hot, and humid, and then last night we got some steady light rain for a few hours off and on, and that continued up until about 8:30 this morning. But since then the clouds have been breaking up and the sun is out now, and it's turning into a beautiful day.

Of course, there's still plenty of cloud hanging around, so it could close in on us again, but for the moment things are looking pretty nice.

This is what we've been waiting for. Or, at least, it's one of the things we've been waiting for, along with winning lottery tickets and stuff like that. Sunny and warm weather, on a weekend, and Test of Metal weekend at that. Perfect.

And the forecast looks like this is going to continue into next week as well, so even those of us who work Saturday and Sunday might have a chance to enjoy some dry conditions on our days off, too.

And... the long-range forecast is hinting that the good weather might even stick around for the Squamish Equinox Festival (www.serfmusicfestival.com) next weekend, so we can party on the beach all night without needing ponchos and gumboots.

But one thing at a time - have a great day at the Test of Metal tomorrow, and an especially huge thank-you to all the vollies who make it possible. You people ROCK!

I think it's likely there will be rain up on the ridges of the Tantalus Range and the Mamquam /Garibaldi areas, but we could dodge it here in town. So by all means head out for the day, but maybe take a light rain jacket just in case.

Things are drying out after yesterday's rain, and it's actually sunny right at the moment, but it looks like today will see some combination of blue sky and fairly heavy clouds, and maybe an odd shower or two, but maybe not. Definitely better than yesterday, though.

How's that for vague and inconclusive? Remember - you read it here first.

They're saying tomorrow will be much the same as today, which might turn out to be not bad, so there's hope for the weekend.

*EDIT* It's actually turned out to be a beautiful day. There are still plenty of clouds, but they're sticking to the ridges mostly, and here in the valley it's sunny and warm with a strong breeze. */EDIT*

It's a bit on the cool side right now, but it looks like it will be a beautiful day once the sun burns the chill away. There's still a dusting of fresh snow atop the Chief from Thursday, but not enough to stop anyone who wants to hike up. If you're thinking about climbing, remember that snow will be melting over the next day or two, so expect a fair bit of seepage in the usual spots. The Smoke Bluffs should be fine, and the lower elevation mountain biking trails as well.

There's lots of snow in the alpine, including a couple days worth of freshies from Wed/Thurs, but watch the avi conditions (www.avalanche.ca) as things are not entirely bombproof.

And that means we're in the awesome window that allows for skiing, mountain biking, rock climbing, hiking, snowshoeing, paddling, or just about anything else you want to do, all on the same day.

If you're going climbing, be prepared for seeping water on some crags, and the biking trails still have patches of snow here and there, especially higher up. But other than the usual "early season conditions" you should be able to have a good day out no matter what your chosen activity.
